It’s all about the G.L.O.W.
Not so long ago I was talking to a friend of mine who is only about 5 years younger than I am. We were just talking about random stuff and I mentioned the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (aka GLOW or G.L.O.W.) show that I used to watch on weekends. She had never heard of it - which only shocked me for a short moment (after I recalled just how awful the show really was). It was NOT the most watched or most loved show around, but I thought it was great (but I thought Pro-wrestling was great then too). According to IMDB the tv show ran from 1986 to 1992, but I don’t remember watching it for more than a couple of years. The show was probably sexist and it was certainly cheesy, but it had its merits and it was the first show with women wrestlers. What I think I liked best about it was that the women got to wrestle. I also used to watch the WWE (I think it was called WWF waaaaay back then - they keep changing their name so I really don’t know) but they didn’t have any women on it. It just had guys wrestling - I wanted to see a women come out there and kick ass.
By the way - the only place I found actual images of any of the GLOW girls was at this website: Queen Kong. And if you did happen to watch the show - way back when - here is the link to get the DVD.
You have now just followed me through a brief stroll down memory lane - my apologies for the detour. Please feel free to return to your regularly scheduled programming. Thank you ![]()
